Welcome To The Home of Theresa Toia

Theresa was raised in southern Macomb County, where she met her husband of 35 years,   Joseph Toia. He is a prominent attorney in Shelby Township, who currently serves as the  chair of the Shelby Township Planning Commission and is a member of the Shelby Township Zoning  Board of Appeals. She put her career on hold until Joe completed his undergraduate degree and law school. While raising their two daughters, Jessica and Marissa, she went back to school, majoring in Interior Design.

She ultimately started a business of her own, while maintaining an administrative assistant position at her husband’s Shelby Township Law Firm. Community Service and Community Involvement  have  always been  an important part of their lives. Theresa is  the President of the Columbus Day Celebration Committee along with being president of various sports organizations.

She is a member of the Americans of Italian Origin (AIO), Gorgeous Smorgeous Girls (GSG), Ladies of Harley (LOH) - Wolverine Chapter, and the Father Solanus Guild. Since 2000, Theresa serves as a director, historian  and  vice-chair of the Shelby Community Foundation. There obtaining experience as she serves on the:

Finance Committee:
• Evaluates potential investments, rate of return, risks
• Develops financial goals
• Sets the annual budget which the Foundation must follow

Development Committee:
• Seeks out grants and matching funds for specific projects
• Organizes fund raisers to grow the endowment fund, provide local scholarships, and cultivate relationships with businesses and individual donors to  work toward the common good of the community.

Planned Giving Committee:
• Determine where funding, gifts, and grants may be directed, thereby building public awareness.

Theresa’s positive perspective and strong commitment to community will  move Shelby Township and Macomb County solidly into the future.
